LGBTQ Youth Resources for the week of November 5^th

Drop-In Centers and Safe Spaces:

Manhattan

• The Door –  operating regular hours, 12-9 pm Monday-Friday and 12-6 pm Sunday for youth ages 12-21, regular programming will continue including mental health and health services, drop-in programming, lunch and dinner. 555 Broome Street between Varick and Avenue of the Americas (6th Avenue)
• Ali Forney Center – PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ALI FORNEY CENTER DAY CENTER IS CLOSED; programs have been shifted to the AFC CAMP office at Sunset Park, Brooklyn from 9 am- 5 pm; open to all youth under 25 years old, intakes can be processed on-site. 718-943-6970
• StreetWork – regular services, including case management, support groups, pantry services, intakes daily
  • Lower East Side Drop-In Center: Mondays (2-5 pm) for injection drug users only; Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (3-7 pm), Wednesdays (emergencies only). Syringe exchange available every day. 33 Essex Street
  • Harlem Drop-In Center: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 12-5 pm, 209 125^th Street, 2^nd floor
  • Youth Enrichment Services (YES) @ the LGBT Community Center – will resume regular programming on Tuesday November 6^th. Open Tuesday-Friday 3-7 pm, Saturday 12-5 pm for youth 13-21 years old. **Please note that Ali Forney Center will be offering additionally services such as intakes, shelter/housing referrals, and case management at the LGBT Center** 208 West 13^th Street

Brooklyn

• Audre Lorde Project – LGBTQ supportive space with limited food, water, and internet, a place to hang out. 85 South Oxford Street in Brooklyn. Open Monday-Thursday 1-7 pm
• Red Hook Initiative -  a supportive space for LGBTQGNC located in the Red Hook Community is open and providing water, food, and electricity & clothing, open ~ 9 am-5 pm

Shelters:

• Covenant House – limited emergency shelter availability for youth ages 21 and under. 460  West 41^st Street between 9^th and 10^th Ave. 1-800-999-9999
• Sylvia’s Place – emergency shelter for youth ages 18-24 years old. Beds will be given on a first-come, first –served basis starting at 6pm. 446 West 36^th Street between 9^th and 10^th Ave
• StreetWork Project – limited availability; will pick youth up from any place and will provide food, hygiene supplies, and safer sex kits ; check for availability by calling Outreach Team from 7 pm to 3 am at 646-342-9861
• Park Slope Armory YMCA – emergency shelter for anyone affected by Hurricane Sandy (all ages). Intakes on a walk-in basis 24 hours/day. 361 15^th Street in Brooklyn (F train)
