Public Relations:

TASKS: We are searching for a volunteer who can assist Hetrick-Martin in the area of  Public Relations. We are looking for a PR professional who can assist in all PR related roles and responsibilities.

SCHEDULE:  A minimum of 1-2 days a week, 2-3 hours a day between 9am and 6pm.  We need all the hours and support you can give.

REQUIREMENTS:  Volunteer must be a seasoned Public Relations Professional.

PURPOSE:  Help HMI handle all of the press requests/releases and PR projects that we are trying to undertake to best reach the community.  All administrative positions help Hetrick-Martin to continue to serve underprivileged at-risk youth.

Kitchen Assistant/Food Handler:

TASKS: The responsibilities of this position include: menu design and planning for healthy meals with vegetarian options, food preparation, and assisting the chef, as well as serving, clean-up, regular kitchen maintenance (refrigerator cleaning, etc), and administrative tasks, such as inventory and ordering.

SCHEDULE: At least 1–2 shift(s) per week; 2:00pm–7:00pm. Potential availability to cover for the full-time cook during illness or vacation is desirable. We are seeking volunteers who are interested in providing a long-term commitment to the position.

REQUIREMENTS: Must have food Handling certificate and immunizations.  Fingerprinting and background checks will be conducted; familiarity around a kitchen and food preparation and handling. All aspects of the position require maintaining a safe and sanitary space. This position involves direct work with Hetrick-Martin youth members. On-site training will be provided by full-time cook.

PURPOSE: You will assist in providing healthy, fresh-cooked meals to Hetrick-Martin youth during the After-School Program.

Graphic Designer:

TASKS:  Hetrick-Martin is looking for a volunteer Graphic Designer. This year is shaping up to be an exciting one and the Development Department at Hetrick-Martin has an extensive list of direct mail, advertising, and internet projects for the years 2010-2011. These include brochures, invitations, an annual report, website buttons and newsletters.  Create Graphic design needs as they arise.  Advance notice will be given.

SCHEDULE: Work can be done remotely or in the office. Office hours are Flexible between 9am – 6pm Monday - Friday

REQUIREMENTS: Must have previous work available for review, work independently, self-initiative and flexibility.

IT Support:

TASKS: Assist in day-to-day management and monitoring of HMI’s IT department towards ensuring efficient and effective operation of all equipment and systems to meet agency needs. As well as assist in development and coordinating of IT helpdesk efforts to ensure technology users are properly supported to optimize their use of the information system at HMI.

SCHEDULE: A minimum of 1-2 days a week, 2-6 hours a day.

REQUIREMENTS: Schooling in Computer Science, Science, Math, Electrical Engineering or related area; or equivalent experience. Knowledge of TCP/IP, Macintosh, Windows98/ NT 4.0/2000,Windows XP, Exchange 2003, M.S Office. Knowledge of anti-virus software.Knowledge of back-up software; Veritas, Computer Associates preferred. Knowledge of databases and report creation. Ability to exercise independent judgment when appropriate; strong decision-making skills.

PURPOSE: Your work will help to ensure technology users are properly supported to optimize their use of the information system at HMI.


After School Front Desk Support:


TASKS:   You will be one of the first faces that our young people and community members see when they enter our space.   We are looking for someone to work behind the front desk helping to check in our young people for programs.  HMI has a new swipe card system and we need volunteers to help set up new members and swipe in current members.

SCHEDULE: A minimum of 2-3 days a week, Monday - Friday 3pm- 7pm

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a fingerprinting credential.  Experience working with teenage youth and knowledge of LGBTQ issues a plus.

PURPOSE:  To help programs run smoother and to assist in creating a welcoming atmosphere for our young people.

Data Entry and Research, Planning Department:

TASKS: Coordinate day-to-day work related to data systems used to track client information.   Closely work with Hetrick-Martin Programs to assess and resolve data related compliance issues and negotiate modifications to database with vendors, funders and staff. Data Monitoring and Evaluation.  Maintain folders for recording and tracking executed contracts and required documentation.

SCHEDULE: At least 1–2 3 hour shifts per week, anytime between 10am - 5pm. 

REQUIREMENTS:Experience in research-driven projects or initiatives.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Aids Institute Reporting System (AIRS) or experience with program databases such as Excel, Access and SPSS a plus.  Knowledge of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth issues as well as multicultural competence report.

PURPOSE: Help Hetrick-Martin accurately report our youth services to our funders and the community.
