Celebrate Your Special Day By Supporting At-Risk LGBTQ youth

More than 35 years ago when Doctors Emery Hetrick and Damien Martin were founding what would become The Hetrick-Martin Institute, the pair were working day and night to give the LGBTQ youth the essentials for survival. Many battles for LGBT equality have been won and lost since their time, however the most influential for this generation is the recognition of gay marriage.

Through HMI DO couples can sign up on the HMI website to direct their family and friends to make donations to support the at-risk LGBTQ young people of HMI in lieu of gifts or in honor of their marriage; donations that support the development, encouragement and nourishment of the next generation of LGBT adults to live up to their full potential.

HMI will work with couples to create a notification to send to family and friends informing them of their inclusion on the HMI DO site.  Family and friends will be able to make a donation on-line in honor of the couple and will receive an electronic acknowledgement letter.  The couple will receive notification of each donation as they come in and a final report a month after the couples wedding date listing all donations made in their honor.

Questions can be directed to Chandler Bazemore, Senior Director, Development at or 212-674-2600 ext. 257.
