Hetrick-Martin Speaks Out Against Bullying

See Executive Director Thomas Krever sit down with Anderson Cooper to discuss the tragedy of an 11-year-old-boy committing suicide after daily antigay bullying from his classmates.

Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover of Massachusetts hanged himself rather than continue to face the daily taunts. His mother says repeated calls to the school to intercede and protect her son went unanswered.

We have been celebrating the tremendous news from Iowa and Vermont, but this tragedy is a terrible reminder of how much work remains to be done. This type of bullying and harassment has been experienced by many of the young people who walk through our doors. Your dedication and unwavering support provides a safe and supportive environment which should serve as a model for schools everywhere.
